I have a salt water pool (14'x28') with a spa attached. The salt level drops fairly regularly. For example, three weeks ago I added 50 lbs of salt, which brought the salt level up to 3400. It's now 2,800. Is this a sign of a leak?
Thanks,
Rick

Sounds like a leak to me, but with a leak wouldnt you notice that you were losing water?
If you have an autofill, shut it off for a day or so to monitor the level.

Are you testing the water with a meter or AquaChek strip?
Some units (Goldline) use a relationship between amperage and temperature to extrapolate salinity. If the cell is defective / worn out the amperage will register falsely and cause an incorrect salinity reading. Do not add salt without doing a manual test to confirm the low salt reading.
There are basically only three ways to lose salt.
1. Splashing water out
2. Backwashing water out
3. A leak in the pool or plumbing system

1 other way is a fill line that's connected to a sprinkler timer & fills the pool to the overflow line. losing the water to the street.
