Ozone is amazing stuff and probably the best adder for your pool. You simply can't achieve the same water quality without it. However, it won't fix a poorly designed pool. Nothing can. Vast amounts of chemicals might be able to mask some issues.
First you need to ensure good circulation. Not only from the pool, but to it as well. Thats flow. It need to filter properly also and thats filtration.
Then you need to decide how you want to chemically balance the water, no shortage of options there.
Unless you're a fish, you probably want some form of heat 
And to put some lively sparkle in the water and take the pressure off all the above systems, add Ozone.
