    During the past couple of weeks, my free chlorine has been reading around 10ppm and total chlorine around 3ppm.  How is this possible?

    I guest a good recommendation to get rid of your combined chlorine,  which you said your total chlorine is higher than your free chlorine, is to shock your pool.

    there might be a problem with your free chlorine. try to check if its steel working, if not you have to look for a new one.
