Has anyone noticed with Salt systems that some fiberglass steps are discoloring a brownish tinge.  These are not all pools with heaters either and the water chemistry appears normal.  Anyone else seen this?

Stick out tongue  There is a product by Leisure Chemicals - Pool Metal Gon  that has been recommended to me for years by a fiberglass installer contractor.  As he recommended it may take 2 bottles to work.  Read the label first.

This is iron staining. Fiberglass pools are more prone to staining than other types.  It's their one big drawback.  Ascorbic acid will quickly remove the staining. Many fiberglass pool owners need to do ascorbic acid treatements yearly. If it is happening in a salt pool then it means that food grade salt with yellow prussiate of soda (an iron compound used to help revent caking) has been used in the pool instead of solar salt or water softener salt.
