I recently purchased a new home and my inground pool has vinyl steps. My old house had fiberglass steps, which I trained my dog to use to exit the pool. My problem is that i can't figure out how to prevent my dog from ripping the vinyl steps as she is getting out of the pool. Any suggestions?

There is (was) a company that made products for dogs who use swimming pools.  It kind of looked like a ramp.

When your pet is in the pool, they can not see the steps, so that they may head for them.

One thing you can do for them is place an object on each side of the high step.

Like a potted plant or a figure of some kind.

This will give them a reference to swim to...

A vet gave me this helpful hint.
