I am not an expert on this, and one of the problems is that it is very hard to sort out all the bad advice, and most pool builders each have their own favorite and often conflicting views. However one builder who seemed to make a lot of sense told me the Kreepy is very hard on the plumbing and it will eventually stress or "expose" all your plumbing "weak links" due to the hard pulsing. Might take several years but it will often happen. Not sure if this is true, and if this is the case with other suction side cleaners such as Hayward Navigator? Any comments from the pros here?

In forty three years I have never seen a plumbing system fail because of a suction side cleaner...

Many times I have seen them clog with leaves, and overheat the fittings that go into, or out of the pump.

The plugging can be prevented somewhat by using a large cannister.  There are two versions on the market.
